Getting to know us.

About us.

Dr. Chanthalone Smith, Ph.D., C. Psych

I am a registered psychologist working in private practice, located in downtown Toronto. I received my Ph.D. in Psychology (School and Clinical Child Psychology program) from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. Over the years, I have trained and worked in a variety of settings, including the Hospital for Sick Children, the Toronto District School Board, The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, and private practices. Within my role as a clinical psychologist, I provide consultation to the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation to support the mental health of parents and families raising prematurely born children.

My main objective is to help clients learn to mindfully attend to the present moment, so that they can develop greater awareness of their own thinking, emotions and behaviours that interfere with wellness. I support individuals who are coping with a variety of emotional, social, and behavioural challenges. I provide assessments and evidence-based treatments to help individuals develop skills to regulate difficult emotions, adjust to life’s changes, improve interpersonal skills, change negative thinking patterns, reduce self-defeating behaviours, and build resiliency. I offer psychological services to children, adolescents and adults, as well as consultation to parents regarding the challenges of raising children.

Dr. Kristina Klopfer, Ph.D., C. Psych

I am a clinical psychologist working with children, adolescents, families, and parents. I received my Ph.D. degree in Psychology (School and Clinical Child Psychology program) from OISE/University of Toronto. Since 2011, I have worked in private practices, schools and hospital-based settings.  Currently, I am working in private practices and at The Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK), a children’s mental health community centre in the Halton region.

My clinical work has focused on supporting individuals and families with a wide range of challenges in the areas of learning, social skills development, emotional and behavioural regulation, and family relationships. I provide comprehensive assessment and treatment to children and youth, and consultation to parents. My treatment approach is client-centered and collaborative. Using a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, I work to cultivate a space that allows for safety and trust in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to help my young clients and their families find ways to engage in life more mindfully so that they can lead their best and most authentic lives.
